Job summary

Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for Whitlingham Ward, a women’s low and medium secure inpatient unit. The post includes clinical care and leadership, supervision of junior medical staff, and an on-call rota with up to 25% SPA time within a secure forensic setting.

Approved Clinician Status and Section 12(2) approval are required, with 3 years of medical experience and 6 months in a relevant clinical area.

Qualifications

• Entry on the GMC register with licence to practise.
• Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST.
• Approved Clinician Status.
• Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act.
• 3 years or equivalent medical experience.
• 6 months' experience in a relevant clinical area.
• Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment and management of complex mental illness.

Job description

Consultant Psychiatrist post on Whitlingham Ward, the women's low and medium secure inpatient ward within the forensic mental health services of Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust. The role gives clinical care and leadership on the ward, filling a vacancy left by the previous post holder. The post carries supervision of junior medical staff, an on-call rota and up to 25% SPA time in a secure forensic setting. Approved Clinician Status and Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act are required.
