Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Dermatologist for a six-month insourcing post. You will cover general dermatology outpatient clinics, including rapid access/Two Week Wait referrals, manage a broad caseload, perform biopsies and minor procedures.

Applicants must hold GMC registration with licence to practise and be eligible for Dermatology Specialist Register, or within six months of CCT; evidence of ongoing professional development is expected.

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
• Entry on GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology, or within six months of CCT.
• Valid medical indemnity insurance.
• Significant experience managing a broad range of dermatological conditions.
• Experience delivering outpatient dermatology services independently.
• Excellent communication and clinical documentation skills.
• Evidence of continued professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-led General Dermatology and Two Week Wait outpatient clinics.
• Assess, diagnose and manage skin, hair and nail conditions in adults, including suspected skin cancers.
• Undertake procedures such as skin biopsies, lesion excisions, cryotherapy and minor operations where required.
• Request and interpret investigations, including histopathology, and action urgent and routine results within agreed timescales.
• Develop treatment plans in line with national guidance and UHCW clinical pathways.
• Decide patient outcomes: discharge, follow-up, PIFU, further investigations or onward referral.
• Dictate, review and authorise clinic correspondence within agreed turnaround times.
• Complete electronic patient outcomes, RTT statuses and clinical records in Trust systems including CRRS and M*Modal.
• Give patients clear information on diagnosis, treatment options, risks and prognosis.
• Work with and advise specialist nurses, pathology, oncology, primary care and other colleagues.
• Escalate urgent concerns and refer patients to specialist pathways.
• Comply with clinical governance, infection prevention, safeguarding, consent and patient safety, and take part in audit, incidents and complaints.

A six-month insourcing post for a Consultant Dermatologist, posted by Medinet Clinical Services for University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The work is extra outpatient clinics in General Dermatology and Two Week Wait skin cancer referrals, aimed at shorter waits. The consultant would manage a broad caseload of skin, hair and nail conditions and carry out biopsies and excisions inside existing hospital facilities. Fit turns on full GMC registration and Dermatology Specialist Register entry, or entry within six months of CCT.
