Applications are invited for a Consultant Clinical Scientist to join the Infection Sciences team at Synnovis, based at the Synnovis Hub, Blackfriars Road. Working in partnership with Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and local ICBs [integrated care board], we aim to set the standard for the future of pathology.

This role is based in Synnovis Analytics, responsible for providing Pathology testing services. You will play a key role in shaping the future of infectious disease diagnostics.
This senior scientific leadership role provides the primary source of Clinical Scientist expertise within the Department of Infection Sciences (Microbiology and Virology). You will ensure the successful delivery of pathology services, aligning with corporate objectives, through a tripartite leadership model involving Clinical Leads, Deputy Operations Service Director, and Lead Scientist. You will lead innovation in your field, impacting infection sciences services and the wider healthcare economy.
The Consultant Clinical Scientist will have high responsibility, including expert advice in infection sciences, quality processes, and training to ensure effective pathology services, especially in diagnostic Microbiology, Mycology, and Virology.

We are modernising pathology services by creating a state-of-the-art Hub laboratory in London. From 1 April 2024, services will move to Blackfriars, Southwark, SE1, with some work remaining in hospital laboratories, focusing on rapid urgent tests. The post involves scientific leadership, working closely with various managers and clinical leads to ensure high-quality infection sciences diagnostics.
Main duties include providing professional leadership, developing strategies, advising clinicians, managing scientific teams, initiating research, publishing findings, and leading the integration of new techniques and equipment. You will also supervise clinical supervision of trainees, provide mentorship, and ensure compliance with quality and legislative standards.

Salary: £84,543 to £96,170 per annum, depending on experience.
