Job description
Overview

The consultant psychologist will work with the hub clinical lead, consultant psychologists, consultant psychiatrists, team lead, mental health practitioners and police colleagues to develop and deliver a service that addresses the mental health needs of individuals who are managed by Counter Terrorism case officers, thereby mitigating Counter Terrorism risk and improving the mental well‑being of those individuals. The post holder will provide consultant leadership of the hub team, along with the other consultant psychologists and psychiatrists, and support the hub clinical lead and national clinical lead.

Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight of cases referred into the hub, utilising clinical expertise, professional judgement and leadership in weekly MDT case review meetings.
  • Support the national and hub clinical leads in the future development of the service, including supervision, line management, recruitment, appraisal, training, audit/research and policy development.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate significant experience in multi‑agency working.
  • Work autonomously, acting with freedom within professional guidelines and the NLFT governance structure.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified consultant clinical or forensic psychologist with demonstrable experience in mental health services.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across agencies.
  • Experience of leadership and management within a multidisciplinary team.
Location and Security

Role based at CCS Central in Birmingham, located at a police building (B37). Requires a security clearance to SC; the clearance process may take in excess of four months from application submission.
