Job summary

Pick Everard, a leading multidisciplinary practice, is seeking a Building Safety Act Consultant / Principal Designer to join the safety team. You will manage BSA commissions, provide practical, commercially focused advice, and ensure projects meet scope, quality, programme and financial targets.

We are looking for a Building Safety Act (BSA) Consultant / Principal Designer to join our growing team in London.

You'll work closely with clients, design teams, and contractors to help deliver safe, compliant, and successful outcomes under the Building Safety Act. Our team brings together a wealth of industry experience and is made up of a number of qualified Architects who have successfully transitioned into Building Safety and Principal Designer roles.

As a Building & Construction Safety Consultant, you will manage a portfolio of BSA and Principal Designer commissions, providing clear, practical, and commercially focused advice to clients, designers, and contractors. You'll be responsible for delivering projects to agreed scope, quality, programme, and commercial objectives, while building trusted relationships with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

You'll work independently to manage your workload, maintain accurate project records, and ensure all documentation and outputs meet our high standards. Alongside developing your technical expertise, you'll gain valuable experience in client management, commercial awareness, risk management, and project delivery.

Your core responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering Building Safety Act (BSA) and Principal Designer services across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards of quality, compliance, and client service.
  • Supporting the successful delivery of projects by coordinating key deliverables, managing documentation, and ensuring programmes and budgets remain on track.
  • Collaborating with senior team members to develop your technical expertise, benefiting from mentoring, guidance, and hands‑on project experience.
  • Facilitating design risk reviews and contributing to the preparation and management of Pre-Construction Information and Health & Safety Files.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, designers, contractors, and internal stakeholders, providing clear and professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitoring project performance, maintaining accurate records, and supporting commercial activities including forecasting, resource planning, and invoicing.
  • Contributing ideas to improve processes, templates, systems, and ways of working, helping to drive continuous improvement across the team.
  • Supporting the preparation of bids, tenders, and fee proposals by providing technical input and project insights.
  • Playing an active role in fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team culture aligned with our Deliver Better Together ethos.
  • Taking ownership of your work, proactively managing priorities, identifying risks, and ensuring successful project outcomes.

About You

In order to be considered for this role, you must:

  • Hold an Architectural or Architectural Technology qualification, such as RIBA Part I, II or III, Architectural Training, BTEC Level 3 Diploma, HNC, HND, or a BSc in Architectural Design Technology.
  • Have a minimum of experiencedelivering projects across the UK through a range of RIBA work stages.
  • Possess a strong understanding of construction and design processes, particularly following the introduction of the Building Safety Act.
  • Have experience working within multidisciplinary project teams across a variety of sectors, supporting the successful delivery of projects under the Building Safety Act framework.
  • Demonstrate previous experience working alongside or supporting a Principal Designer Building Regulations (PDBR).
In addition, you'll be someone who:
  • Takes ownership of your work, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes with excellent attention to detail.
  • Builds strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and project teams, contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive culture.
