Job summary

AXA XL seeks a Head of Construction for the UK & Lloyd's to lead underwriting strategy, profitability, and product development across the UK region. You will champion data-driven decision making, oversight of complex properties and casualty lines, and maintain strong broker partnerships to grow profitable business.

The role requires senior leadership, strategic thinking, and deep knowledge of underwriting standards.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in underwriting management and operations.
• Experience building relationships with large brokers and regional agencies.
• Track record of driving profitable growth and meeting objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual business plan aligned with AXA XL’s underwriting strategies.
• Monitor financial, marketing and client satisfaction metrics and intervene when needed.
• Lead strategic and operational objectives to achieve short-term wins and long-term goals.
• Collaborate with business lines to identify centers of excellence and drive product development.
• Provide leadership to the underwriting team and improve pricing models with actuarial support.
• Ensure underwriting policies and authority guidelines enable profitable placements.
