Job summary

Oaklands College in St Albans is seeking a Professional Trainer - Construction to deliver high-quality construction training, coaching, and assessment. You will support learners from enrolment to qualification, embedding Maths, English, and professional behaviours throughout the curriculum.

You will assess learner work, provide feedback, and maintain records in the College e-portfolio, while supporting learner progression and adherence to quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering training, coaching, or instruction in education or workplace learning.
• Construction industry experience or substantial vocational expertise.
• Understanding of qualification standards and assessment requirements in construction programmes.
• Desirable teaching qualifications (PTLLS, A1, TAQA) or willingness to work towards them.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality construction training through face-to-face, online, and employer-based delivery.
• Plan and facilitate engaging learning sessions and practical activities.
• Monitor learner progress with regular reviews and action plans.
• Assess learner work against standards and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate learner records in the college e-portfolio system.
• Provide academic and pastoral support to learners.
• Contribute to quality assurance, audits, and compliance activities.
• Support CPD and staff development initiatives.
