Job summary

Supply Staff Ltd is seeking an experienced Construction Teacher to join a secondary SEMH school in Leyton, East London. The role centers on delivering practical construction lessons, helping students build skills for their future and improving employability through hands-on learning.

You will manage workshop safety, tailor instructions to SEMH pupils, and provide ongoing feedback to support progress in a patient, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or delivering construction-related training, ideally within a school, AP or vocational setting.
• Strong practical knowledge of construction, building trades or related vocational subject.
• Ability to engage young people and manage challenging behaviour effectively.
• Patient, resilient and supportive approach to SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, practical construction lessons tailored to students' abilities and learning needs.
• Teach construction techniques, building skills, tool usage and essential health and safety procedures.
• Develop students' practical competence, vocational knowledge and employability skills.
• Maintain a safe, structured learning environment, particularly during practical workshop activities.
• Adapt teaching approaches to support SEMH needs and encourage positive behaviour.
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to support students' development.
