Job description

Construction Studies Lecturer

Department: Academic/Bath Spa University partnership (BSU)

Location: Leeds (On-Site)

Salary: £51,000

Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

The role: We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Construction Management programme. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends.

What you’ll be doing
  • All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met
  • Developing, updating, and improving course materials as appropriate
  • Using a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials
  • Actively engaging in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices
  • Working towards a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and student progression
About You
  • You hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
  • You have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area
  • You can demonstrate extensive knowledge of relevant subject matter
  • You have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback
  • You have experience of accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records
  • You can work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
  • You have excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills
  • You can work with diverse groups of people
Desirable
  • You hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
  • You have experience of design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent
