Job summary

Otium Construction in Reading/ amongst the Home Counties seeks an experienced Site Manager to lead delivery on varied projects from new builds to refurbishments. You will report to the Head of Delivery, work directly with the company founders, and drive progress with minimal management layers.

You will read drawings, manage directly employed staff and subcontractors, maintain HSE standards, monitor quality, and prepare weekly look-ahead programmes.

Qualifications

• Site Manager experience delivering projects.
• Experience on projects valued between £250,000 and £5 million.
• Knowledge of groundworks and civils on new-builds or refurbishments.
• Ability to read drawings and identify issues early.
• Confidently manage operatives and subcontractors.
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
• MCIOB status and public-sector experience are beneficial.

Role Description

You will report to the Head of Delivery, while working closely with the company founders. There are no unnecessary management layers, allowing decisions to be made quickly.

• Keeping accurate site records and progress reports
• Identifying variations, delays and cost risks earlyLeading client meetings, handover and project close-out

What we are looking for:

• Site Manager experience, or an experienced Assistant Site Manager ready to progress
• Experience delivering projects valued between £250,000 and £5 million
• Strong new-build or refurbishment knowledge, with an understanding of groundworks and civils
• Ability to read drawings, understand technical details and identify issues early
• Confidence managing operatives and subcontractors
• SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS and First Aid at Work
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK

MCIOB status, public-sector experience and Temporary Works Coordinator training would be beneficial but are not essential. We will fund SMSTS training and professional development for the right candidate.
