The Construction team is an integral part of the transformation and provides expertise, and drives change to achieve maximum commercial value, ensuring our property portfolio is fit for purpose to support the operation.
To support the construction strategy, we have vacancy for a RegionalConstruction Manager, to deliver capital improvement projects within the South East, London, Norfolk, Suffolk and Anglia regions.


The role

As the Construction Manager, you’ll be lead and implement capital improvement projects from inception to completion by engaging, appointing, and managing relevant teams from the CPSF / Contractor Framework. You’ll be responsible for the execution of construction projects (capital and opex) with accountability for all aspects of the development and delivery. This includes overseeing the cost, schedule, scope, quality and safety during the initiation, design, procurement, and construction of the complete range of property programmes and customer investment plans within Property & Facilities Solutions (PFS).
Accountabilities

  • Lead and drive performance of multi-disciplinary property professional teams to manage all major construction projects in their area to ensure success and maximise value.
  • Deploy effective programme and project management tools and techniques with robust governance processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and measure a range of performance and control mechanisms in areas of safety, environment, energy, quality, process, customer satisfaction, risk management, and supply chain management.
  • Provide regular reporting of project performance including financial, budget , safety and project status.
  • Ensure compliance of construction projects with latest statutory, regulatory, and RMG governance and standards, including landlord/planning permissions, Construction Design Management (e.g. CDM 2015, H&S at Work Act), and P3M.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with senior stakeholders within PFS and specialist functions, including Group Legal and Group Security.
  • Manage key internal clients and partners, negotiate regarding risks or changes to the project scope.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, consultants & external vendors, driving performance, innovative methods of operation, and best practice in construction.


About you

You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your CV:

  • A track record of delivering of property works (building fabric, M&E or estate) and the management of portfolio of projects.
  • Strong safety and compliance knowledge in a construction/building context, with experience of managing programmes safely (regulations, pre-construction and construction, near miss and accident).
  • Planning and programme governance skills to assess, manage and deliver performance of multiple projects.
  • Experience of creating, implementing and evaluating property/construction project plans.
  • A good understanding of the market, the construction industry andgood commercial awareness.
  • A focus on energy and environmental awareness in construction project design, delivery and achievement of energy savings / low carbon solutions.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, senior stakeholder management skills, working effectively with others to achieve outcomes.
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • First degree in relevant subject.
  • Qualified project manager or chartered qualification in the construction field (e.g. APM PMQ, building surveyor/RICS, ICE, CIOB etc).
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card, or as a minimum Construction Skill H&S test pass.
