Job summary

Exeter College is looking for an Industry Placement Liaison Officer (IPLO) to secure and coordinate work placements for our 16-19 full-time learners in the Construction and Built Environment sector. You will work from Sowton, Exeter, liaising with the curriculum team to secure placements and support learners through to successful completion.

You’ll lead employer engagement across Exeter and the IPLO network, drive placement targets, and ensure safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating learner placements and working with schools or colleges.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills to engage employers.
  • Ability to manage placement targets and partner with curriculum teams.

Responsibilities

  • Secure and coordinate work placements for 16-19 full-time learners.
  • Prepare learners for placements and support them through to completion.
  • Collaborate with the curriculum team and IPLOs to expand employer partnerships.
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare processes are followed during placements.

Job description

This is an exciting time to join one of Exeter’s biggest employers working in the Faculty of Construction and the Built Environment to secure short work placements for our 16-19 fulltime learners. Delivering skilled construction workers is a national priority and at the heart of our offer, is supporting learners to complete a short placement that prepares them for the world of work. You will be based in our Construction faculty (Sowton, Exeter) and will work closely with our curriculum team to secure placements, prepare learners and support them through to successful completion. You will also form part of a wider team of Industry Placement Liaison Officers (IPLOs) who work across college in similar roles. You’ll need to be passionate about securing inspiring work placements that prepare learners for the world of work. Together with the curriculum team, you’ll support employers and learners whilst on placement and ensure that all learners successfully complete their placements as part of their core curriculum study. You’ll be great at using your initiative, will have a positive, can-do attitude, and will be able to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds. You will be working towards placement targets and will have the opportunity to earn a 20% bonus at the end of the academic year. This role will suit someone who’s brilliant at influencing and persuading potential employers to work in partnership with the College. A full UK driving licence is required for this role.
