Job summary

Southampton-based law firm is seeking a Construction Partner / Legal Director to lead and grow its construction practice. You will work within a Top 200 regional firm, advising developers, housebuilders, investors, contractors, and occupiers on contentious and non-contentious matters.

The role offers autonomy to shape the practice, with backing from an established referral network across Real Estate, Development and Commercial Property, and a track record of high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Significant post-qualification experience in construction law.
• Proven leadership capabilities in a partnership or senior director role.
• Strong business development and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Drafting and negotiating JCT, NEC, and bespoke construction contracts.
• Advising on appointments, warranties, and development documentation.
• Supporting major commercial and residential development projects.
• Handling construction disputes including defects, payments, and adjudications.
• Developing long-term client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
