Job summary

Carmichael UK is looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join a flagship highways infrastructure project in Norfolk. You will lead site teams, coordinate multiple work packages, and ensure delivery safe, on programme, and within budget.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will drive health, safety, environment, and quality standards, and work closely with commercial, engineering, planning and stakeholders to mitigate risks and achieve targets.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Construction Manager on major civil/highways projects.
• Experience with Tier 1 main contractors and NEC contracts.
• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certifications preferred.

The Opportunity

A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join a flagship highways infrastructure project in Norfolk. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of a high-profile scheme that will enhance the region's transport network and leave a lasting legacy.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be responsible for managing construction activities across multiple work packages, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage site teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Oversee programme delivery and coordinate construction activities across the project.
• Monitor progress, productivity, and performance against project targets.
• Work closely with commercial, engineering, planning, and stakeholder teams.
• Review and implement construction methodologies and temporary works requirements.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve site-based issues effectively.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the project.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders.

About You

• Proven experience as a Construction Manager on major civil engineering or highways projects.
• Background working for a principal contractor, ideally a Tier 1 organisation.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts and infrastructure project delivery.
• Extensive knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams within a complex construction environment.
• Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certification preferred.
