We are seeking an experienced Construction Lawyer to support our client's growing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) business for data centers and substations across the EMEA region. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with internal stakeholders and mid-level construction professionals on complex infrastructure projects.

The Contractor will operate as an extension of our in-house legal team, providing hands-on legal support to ensure fast, efficient, and scalable legal and contracting processes. This role requires an individual capable of working independently, proactively managing legal issues, and offering pragmatic legal advice that enables business growth and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary legal contact for construction-related inquiries across EMEA EPC operations.
  • Provide legal counsel on construction-related disputes and claims, including contract interpretation and resolution strategies.
  • Independently draft, review, and negotiate engineering and construction contracts (including architecture and design contracts).
  • Oversee and coordinate with external legal counsel in the EMEA region on construction matters.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate business teams on legal risks and construction contract best practices.
  • Maintain regular communication with business clients and legal stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage legal risks proactively.
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects, ensure timely delivery of legal solutions, and escalate issues where necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience advising on construction-related legal matters at a leading international law firm or in-house legal department within the technology, construction, or real estate sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex construction and engineering contracts.
  • Experience in handling construction-related EOT (Extension of Time) and cost claims.
  • Active license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • In-house legal experience specifically within a construction-focused legal role.
  • Familiarity with legal considerations surrounding data center construction or related infrastructure.
  • Experience working on large-scale international construction projects, especially in the EMEA region.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset with excellent judgment and problem-solving ability.
  • Attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
