Placements24 is seeking a skilled Legal Counsel specializing in construction law to join our East London-based team. You will advise on FIDIC, JBCC and NEC contracts, guide tendering processes, and help manage disputes to ensure project success.

We seek an experienced professional with strong negotiation, communication and project-management skills to support major infrastructure initiatives in the region.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on construction law and related contracts.
• Strong understanding of FIDIC, JBCC, and NEC contract forms.
• Experience in construction dispute resolution mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of construction and engineering projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, JBCC).
• Advise on tendering processes and project documentation.
• Manage and resolve construction-related disputes, including arbitration and litigation.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety legislation.
