Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a motivated Semi Skilled Operative / Labourer to join the Construction Team within Resources. The role supports a range of construction and maintenance projects across County Durham, working with builders, electricians and heating engineers to deliver high-quality workmanship.

You will undertake site labouring duties, operate plant and equipment, and help maintain safe working environments.

Qualifications

• Experience of manual activities in the built environment.
• Good basic education.
• Willingness to develop new skills and undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance works.
• Operate hand tools, powered tools, plant and equipment.
• Support skilled trades staff to deliver workmanship.
• Maintain site safety and perform vehicle checks.
• Work independently and as part of a team across multiple locations.
• Take a lead role on site in the absence of a Site Manager or Foreman.

NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline
