Job summary

Shirley Parsons Professional Services Limited seeks a Health & Safety Advisor for a major construction project in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role is site-based and involves supporting delivery with proactive H&S oversight, audits, and workforce engagement to maintain high standards of safety and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will conduct inspections, lead toolbox talks, review risk assessments, and collaborate with subcontractors.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum.
• Strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive health & safety support to site management teams.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours.
• Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation and company procedures.
• Support investigations into incidents and near misses.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and workforce engagement activities.
• Review risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and site teams to drive safety culture.
• Monitor project performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
