Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd in Manchester is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the monthly accounts process, strengthen financial controls and ensure statutory compliance within a project-led construction environment.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own month-end close, cash flow forecasting and project profitability reporting, with scope to influence processes and work autonomously in a growing business.

Qualifications

Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
Strong experience of CIS.
Experience as a Management Accountant or similar role.
Strong month-end and management accounts experience.
Excellent reconciliation and financial control skills.
Experience preparing VAT returns and managing compliance.
Sage experience is essential.
Confident communicator who can work independently with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and month-end journals.
Own the month-end close process and maintain robust financial controls.
Complete and review key balance sheet reconciliations.
Produce cash flow forecasts, budgets and variance analysis.
Support project accounting, cost tracking and profitability reporting.
Prepare VAT returns and manage HMRC correspondence.
Assist with statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit.
Monitor debtor and creditor positions, providing financial insight to management.
