Job summary

PPM Recruitment is seeking an Estimator (or Assistant Estimator ready to progress) for a Manchester-based role with a leading main contractor. You will manage tender submissions, cost plans, and bills of quantities, collaborating with planning, design and management teams while keeping up to date with market rates.

The position requires strong Excel skills, experience with Conquest and On-Screen Take Off, and a proactive, organized approach. Full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing tenders, cost plans, budgets and bids.
• Proficient in Excel and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Work across sectors and adapt estimating strategies.
• Prepare tenders, cost plans, budgets and negotiated bids.
• Manage tender documentation, addendums and instructions.
• Produce detailed bills of quantities.
• Issue tender enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
• Analyse tender returns for compliance and terms.
• Support supply chain selection and subcontractor assessments.
• Quantification checks and cost verification with teams.
• Collaborate with design and planning teams during bids.
• Keep aware of market conditions, build rates and data.
