The Hireman is an independent tool hire company delivering and collecting construction equipment across London and surrounding areas. This hands-on role combines driving, loading, unloading and handling a wide range of tools.

You will work in a depot-based team with training and opportunities to advance into warehouse, workshop or office roles, supported by a culture that promotes from within.

Qualifications

• A valid C1 driving licence with CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Customer service experience from construction, materials, equipment, warehousing or logistics.
• Honesty and integrity with a positive attitude.
• Enthusiasm and a good sense of humour.
• Professional, proactive and flexible approach.
• Physically fit to load and unload equipment.

Responsibilities

• Drive a 3.5 or 7.2 tonne van in-and-around London and surrounding areas.
• Deliver, collect, load/unload construction and powered access equipment.
• Handle basic paperwork on a PDA.
• Build relationships with customers.

The Hireman is an independent tool hire company providing construction equipment services to professional contractors working in London and the Home Counties. Established in 1985, we pride ourselves on going out of our way to help our customers. Operating from four strategically located depots in Canning Town, Park Royal, Croydon and Kent we currently have 100 staff and have plans to grow the business substantially over the next ten years.

What will I be doing?

As part of a depot-based team, you will play a hands-on role delivering and collecting construction equipment across London and the surrounding areas. This is a physically active position that combines driving, loading, unloading and handling a wide range of tools and equipment.

• Driving a 3.5 or 7.2 tonne van in-and-around London and surrounding areas
• Delivering, collecting, loading/unloading construction and powered access equipment
• Handling basic paperwork and administration using a PDA
• Building relationships with our customers
• Learning our range of equipment and the industry

Support and training are provided every step of the way and we have an extremely successful track record of promoting from within, with over 40% of our people now working in a different role from where they started. What do I need?

• A valid C1 driving licence, with CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Customer service experience from either the construction industry, building materials/supplies, equipment, plant, power tools, warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, motor vehicles , farming or similar
• A good work ethic with honesty and integrity
• Enthusiasm and a good sense of humour
• A professional, proactive, and flexible approach
• Positive attitude with a commitment to upholding the company’s reputation for quality and service
• Enjoy being active and outdoors with the physical fitness to safely handle manual loading and unloading of equipment
