Job summary

United Utilities in Warrington is offering a one-year Construction Co-ordinator internship in their busy Construction Services team. Based at Lingley Mere, you'll gain hands-on site-based experience delivering projects from planning through to completion.

You'll support senior managers, manage contractor relationships, conduct safety checks, and learn the NEC4 Supervisor role while developing planning, cost control, and environmental awareness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:1 degree in Engineering, Construction, Surveying or Architecture.
• Penultimate year of university study.
• Full UK driving licence (upon application).
• Willingness to work across the North West region.

Hours: 37 hours per week

What can you expect as an Intern within our Construction Team?

Construction Services is part of the Construction, Commissioning & Integration Team, responsible for delivering projects from initial planning and design through to the safe and successful completion of physical assets. The team ensures all projects are delivered to the required quality standards while maintaining full legal and regulatory compliance on behalf of United Utilities as the Client Organisation.

As an intern, you will be encouraged to take a proactive approach to building relationships across the business and with our supply chain partners. You will gain valuable site-based and practical experience, developing an understanding of construction delivery within a live operational environment. Our portfolio includes a diverse range of construction projects, providing broad exposure to the water industry. To gain the maximum benefit from the placement, you will need to demonstrate a work ethic, curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn, supported by an open and inquisitive mindset.

You’ll be at the forefront of managing relationships with third parties and stakeholders, ensuring our projects are innovative, reliable, and cost-effective. Your role will involve providing crucial technical input on construction schedules, quality, safety, environment, and cost, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.

What you’ll be getting stuck into day to day:

What you’ll bring to the team:

We require our interns to be expecting a minimum 2:1 degree in Engineering, Construction, Surveying or Architecture. You must be in your penultimate year of university study.

• Excellent communication skills - both written and spoken.
• Able to demonstrate a practical application of your knowledge
• A proactive attitude with the ambition and drive to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible to work throughout the North West region

• A full UK driving licence (upon application) and access to a vehicle for business use.
