Job description

We're looking for a Construction & Engineering Director to join our project team based in London.

Location: Central London, Foley Street

What will you be responsible for?

The regional businesses provide a client-focused service that delivers quality construction projects in a safe, professional, and sustainable manner. They utilize extensive experience working with both public and private sector clients on projects with varying complexities, including challenging logistics & access, complex façades (including façade retention), noise restrictions, complex ground conditions, contamination, and technically challenging building services. Project values typically range from £1m to £150m, so agility to respond to specific demands and shifting priorities is essential.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the role provides functional leadership within the region, overseeing the implementation and adherence to business systems and strategies. The role is also the focal point for driving consistency, standards, and improvements in project delivery. Regional revenues are typically £200-400m per annum, with up to 40 projects live at any one time.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional (and where appropriate, operational) leadership for the regional business, focusing on improving operational performance, consistency, and standards.
  • Responsible for the Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW), Environmental, and Quality resources within the region.
  • Develop plans and objectives for delivering quality.
  • Drive the ‘digital by default' agenda and operational performance through digital dashboard reviews, weekly project performance trackers, and close collaboration with Regional Directors to optimize performance and mitigate risks across projects. This includes promoting the use and consistency of digital tools such as Asite, Biosite, Novade, Procore, and Power BI.
  • Explore and develop opportunities to enhance service delivery and customer offerings by adopting industry best practices, sustainable modern construction methods, and digital enhancements. Share insights with the wider Construction & Engineering team.

What are we looking for?

This role is ideal if you have:

  • Experience leading planning, building services, design management, social value, digital construction, information management, and engineering functions.
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Forward-thinking commercial acumen.

We value potential at Kier, so transferrable skills are welcome! Even if you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply and discuss your fit for the role.

We offer a wide variety of benefits tailored to individual needs. More information about our benefits can be found here.
