Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an Associate Director or Director - Infrastructure Engineer with experience in the Highways Sector to be part of our growing and vibrant team working on exciting highway projects. The key elements of the role are to lead highways and infrastructure design projects, supported by our growing team of engineers, represent the company as a technical expert, contribute strongly to winning work and delivering projects safely, efficiently, and effectively. The role offers hybrid working with 2-3 days office based.

You will be responsible for projects, delivery, budgets, resourcing, planning, and programming whilst also reviewing quality and leading the preparation of technical outputs, coordinating with other disciplines, and representing the business internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manage the civil engineering aspects of projects, including financial, technical, and project management control, reporting directly to the Head of Department.
  • Contribute to work winning activities and project pipeline development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with main client contacts.
  • Lead and approve complex high-value proposals.
  • Take commercial responsibility for projects.
  • Ensure successful project delivery respecting time, cost, quality, and contractual requirements.
  • Understand client objectives and desired outcomes for each project.
  • Achieve client satisfaction targets.
  • Make presentations to clients, third parties, and colleagues as appropriate.
  • Liaise with architects, clients, and other professionals, representing the practice professionally and courteously.
  • Delegate, manage, and direct Engineers and Technicians involved in projects.
  • Ensure technical design quality on managed projects.
  • Demonstrate leadership and self-motivation.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor work progress and address issues.
  • Develop and supervise junior Engineers.
  • Coordinate with other construction professionals in design development.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Chartered member of ICE/CIHT.
  • Extensive knowledge of highway & drainage design, approval processes, and Water Authority agreements.
  • Experience in highway technical design, understanding of design principles, health and safety, and CDM regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil3D, Microdrainage, and other civil engineering software.
  • Knowledge of DMRB, MCHW, MfS, TSM, LA guides, etc.
  • Experience with housing developers is preferable.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and industry engagement.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and collaborative skills.
  • Strong technical report and fee proposal writing skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic.
