Job summary

Sussex Wildlife Trust is seeking a livestock manager at Wiston Estate to oversee the daily care of cattle, sheep, goats and ponies. You will perform routine checks, feed and bed the animals, and assist with seasonal stock movements on reserves across East and West Sussex.

The role includes a 35-hour week on a 7-day rota, with a 12-month fixed-term contract at a salary of £26,475 plus dog allowance and other out-of-hours payments. You will be part of a team supporting conservation objectives.

Qualifications

• Experience in daily livestock monitoring and welfare checks.
• Ability to handle bedding, feeding and basic husbandry tasks.
• Comfort with moving stock to reserves and returning them to the home farm.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily livestock checks and ensure welfare of cattle, sheep, goats and ponies.
• Carry out winter bedding up and feeding duties as required.
• Conduct basic animal husbandry tasks and monitor stock health.
• Move stock onto reserves and gather at season end for sale or return to home farm.
