Job summary

Marathon Science School in London, SE8, is seeking a dynamic Computer Science Teacher to lead our Computer Science provision. With a small setting of just 35 pupils, you will shape the curriculum, deliver engaging lessons, and drive whole-school improvement in CS.

The role offers an opportunity to mentor colleagues, develop enrichment activities, and contribute to safeguarding and school ethos within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Qualified teacher status required.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject (or significant teaching experience).
  • Evidence of recent professional development relevant to this role.

Job description

Role: Computer Science Teacher (Computer Science Lead) Contract: Full time, Part time


Main Purpose of the Role


  • To lead and develop the Computer Science curriculum across the school

  • To teach Computer Science as a subject lead

  • To inspire pupils to achieve their best in Computer Science

  • To contribute to the wider school community


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead the planning, delivery, and development of the Computer Science curriculum

  • Teach engaging and challenging Computer Science lessons to all year groups as required

Qualifications and training



  • Qualified teacher status

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject (or significant teaching experience in the subject)

Experience



  • Successful teaching experience in Computer Science

  • Experience of curriculum development and/or leading a subject area

  • Experience working with pupils with a range of abilities and needs


Skills and knowledge



  • Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science

  • Ability to plan and deliver outstanding lessons

  • Effective assessment and data analysis skills

  • Good IT skills and familiarity with educational technology

  • Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies

  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
