Job summary

Biterite Dental Laboratory in North London is seeking an experienced 5-axis CAM Engineer to oversee our milling workflow. Training in MillBox and related dental-manufacturing software will be provided, with a focus on precision and waste reduction.

This is a full-time, permanent role in a modern facility. We welcome candidates from various precision-engineering backgrounds; aerospace or medical-device experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Five-axis CNC milling or multi-axis precision manufacturing.
• CAM programming, nesting or toolpath optimisation.
• Producing small, complex components to tight tolerances.
• Tool selection, tool-life management and machining optimisation.
• Machine setup, calibration and fault diagnosis.
• Inspecting precision components using measuring equipment.
• Managing a busy and organised manufacturing workflow.
• Identifying root causes of production and quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage our five-axis milling workflow.
• Import, position and nest components in MillBox.
• Nest zirconia and PMMA restorations to minimise material waste.
• Position restorations within multilayer zirconia discs.
• Calculate and review machining strategies and toolpaths.
• Set up and operate wet and dry milling equipment.
• Manage milling of titanium, cobalt-chrome, zirconia and PMMA.
• Monitor production and ensure jobs are completed on schedule.
• Select tools and manage tool life and replacement.
• Inspect completed components for accuracy and surface quality.
• Perform precision fitting and post-processing of milled metalwork.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, calibration and dimensional issues.
• Reduce material waste, machine stoppages and tool consumption.
• Maintain accurate production, material and quality-control records.
• Work closely with dental technicians and digital design team.

5-Axis CAM Engineer – Precision Dental Milling

Biterite Dental Laboratory | North London | Full-time, permanent

Biterite is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CAM Engineer to manage the workflow of our advanced milling department.

We are a progressive, technology-led dental laboratory operating from a state-of-the-art facility in North London. Our laboratory uses advanced digital manufacturing to produce high-precision components from titanium, cobalt-chrome, zirconia and PMMA, including implant bars, custom abutments, frameworks, crowns, bridges and temporary restorations.

No previous dental experience or dental qualification is required. Full training in MillBox, our equipment, materials and dental-manufacturing applications will be provided.

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Operating and managing our five-axis milling workflow
• Importing, positioning and nesting components in MillBox
• Nesting zirconia and PMMA restorations efficiently to minimise material waste
• Positioning restorations correctly within multilayer zirconia discs
• Calculating and reviewing machining strategies and toolpaths
• Setting up and operating wet and dry milling equipment
• Managing the milling of titanium, cobalt-chrome, zirconia and PMMA
• Monitoring production and ensuring jobs are completed on schedule
• Selecting tools and managing tool life and replacement
• Inspecting completed components for accuracy and surface quality
• Performing precision fitting and post-processing of milled metalwork
• Troubleshooting machining, tooling, calibration and dimensional issues
• Reducing material waste, machine stoppages and unnecessary tool consumptionManaging used discs, material batches and remaining stock
• Maintaining accurate production, material and quality-control records

About you

• Five-axis CNC milling or multi-axis precision manufacturing
• CAM programming, nesting or toolpath optimisation
• Producing small, complex components to tight tolerances
• Tool selection, tool-life management and machining optimisation

• Inspecting precision components using appropriate measuring equipment
• Managing a busy and organised manufacturing workflow
• Identifying the root cause of production and quality issues

Experience machining titanium, cobalt-chrome, engineering polymers, ceramics or composite materials would be advantageous.

Experience with MillBox, hyperDENT, SUM3D, hyperMILL, PowerMill, Mastercam or comparable CAM software would also be beneficial, but MillBox experience is not essential.

Candidates from aerospace, medical-device manufacturing, orthopaedic implants, motorsport, jewellery manufacturing or other precision-engineering environments are encouraged to apply.
