Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation is offering a student placement for an Applications Scientist in Composites. You will design and run experiments to study how Lubrizol additives influence composite processing and properties, and work closely with scientists, researchers and commercial teams.

You will gain experience in materials science and polymer technologies, contribute to projects from fundamental research to product development, and enjoy a range of onsite facilities and a flexible, supportive

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a relevant scientific discipline including a year in industry.
• Expected to achieve a 2:1 degree or above.
• Grade B or above in A-Level Chemistry (or equivalent).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experimental programmes to evaluate additive effects on composite performance.
• Perform mechanical, physical, and thermal tests on composites.
• Analyse data to relate additive chemistry to processing and properties.
• Maintain accurate lab records and communicate findings via presentations.
• Collaborate with polymer synthesis, applied science and marketing teams.
• Support projects from fundamental research to market-focused development (6 months to 3 years).
• Support lab safety activities and safe operation of facilities.
