Job summary

Ashby Finance Ltd is seeking an Automotive Restoration Composite Technician to join our precision craft team in Daventry on a 6-month FTC. The role focuses on high-value carbon fibre, GRP and composite components, with emphasis on fit, finish and craftsmanship.

You will inspect, repair and restore composites, working with specialist techniques in a precision environment. The position offers strict quality standards and opportunities to contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience with high-value carbon fibre/GRP components preferred.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
• Attention to detail in cosmetic finishing and fitment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect composite components for damage and repair needs.
• Repair and restore carbon fibre, GRP and other composites to exacting standards.
• Prepare and finish components using sanding, filling, bonding and resin techniques.
• Accurately trim, drill, cut, bond, and fit composite parts and related components.
• Trial-fit components to ensure panel gaps and alignment meet specifications.
• Follow technical drawings and instructions; use hand and power tools safely.
• Collaborate with Quality, Production and Engineering to resolve fit and finish issues.
• Maintain health and safety when handling composites, adhesives and chemicals.

Key Responsibilities Of The Automotive Restoration Composite Technician

• Inspect composite components, identifying damage, defects and areas requiring repair or rework.
• Repair, modify and restore carbon fibre, GRP and other composite components to exacting standards.
• Prepare and finish components using sanding, filling, bonding and specialist finishing techniques.
• Accurately trim, drill, cut, bond and fit composite parts and associated components.
• Trial-fit components to vehicles, ensuring excellent panel gaps, alignment, fit and finish.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and detailed work instructions.
• Use specialist hand tools, power tools, adhesives and composite equipment safely and effectively.
• Work closely with Quality, Production and Engineering teams to resolve fitment and quality concerns.
• Take pride and ownership in the quality of completed work before components progress to the next stage.
• Support continuous improvement in composite repair, restoration and finishing techniques.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety when working with composite materials, adhesives, chemicals and dust.

The successful Automotive Restoration Composite Technician will combine strong practical ability with patience, pride and a genuine craftsperson’s approach to automotive restoration.

Hours & Pay

• Shift Pattern: Monday – Thursday (7:00 AM – 4:30 PM), Friday (7:00 AM – 12:45 PM)
• Pay: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum
• Overtime opportunities & Rates available
