Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a design engineer to craft composite and metallic race car components for the chassis team. You will design tooling, investigate reliability issues and develop effective solutions while leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Applicants should have proven design experience in composites/metals and experience in Formula 1 or a similar fast‑paced environment. A degree in mechanical engineering is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• Proven design experience with composite race car components and their operating environment.
• Experience in Formula 1 or similar high‑performance design environment.
• Excellent knowledge of composite and metallic materials and cross‑functional application.

Responsibilities

• Create conceptual and detailed designs for composite and metallic components, tooling, jig parts and test jigs.
• Lead design projects from brief to delivery, working accurately and at pace.
• Investigate reliability issues and implement effective design solutions.
• Lead projects or small teams and support junior members as required.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in cross‑functional car development processes.
