Job Title: Producibility Engineer (Component Design Engineer) - Controls Lifecycle Engineering

Location: Solihull - Hybrid (4 days a week on site)

Job Summary

As a Producibility / Component Design Engineer in the Civil Engineering Delivery Team, you will be part of a team focused on Control System Units, delivering Minor Design Changes and providing Design Engineering Support for both Original Equipment (OE) and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Operations. Your responsibilities include ensuring on-time delivery and quality of component design definitions that meet system and sub-system requirements, participating within a cross-functional Integrated Project Team (ITP), and operating according to Rolls-Royce Management System policies. You will also handle sub-system integration and lifecycle profitability through Supply Chain Design.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver design solutions considering safety, manufacturing capability, robustness, cost, weight, and maintainability.
2. Provide definitions to stakeholders including manufacturing, project customers, and analysis teams.
3. Create automated workflows for repeat designs using house style and standards.
4. Eliminate Non-Conformance and achieve Zero Defects through analysis and lean principles.
5. Ensure quality assurance by checking design documents and models per RRMS requirements.
6. Perform analyses for dimensioning and other technical parameters.
7. Develop technical documents in compliance with policies.
8. Manage through-life Supply Chain Design and lifecycle profitability.
9. Coordinate external design activities with suppliers and design service providers.
10. Manage product configuration and data integrity.
11. Execute subsystem integration using Systems Engineering and Robust Design tools.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge in mechanical design, manufacturing, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, and related fields.
• Ability to apply analytical and innovative thinking to technical problems.
• Experience with product integrity, liability, and certification frameworks.
• Membership of a relevant professional body; Chartered status preferred in the UK.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
