Component Design Engineer

Full time

Bristol/Hybrid

Based in Bristol, you will be part of a large multi-disciplinary organization tasked with delivering novel gas turbine sub-systems and component solutions as part of a next-generation power and propulsion system and supporting our in-service products.

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing a variety of components and assemblies across different sub-systems. Your duties may also include understanding in-service operation, testing and verification programs, technology development, and developing tools and methods.

Our hybrid working model allows flexibility to balance office, home, or remote work, with an expectation of attending the workplace approximately three days per week for collaboration.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Deliver design solutions for components and assemblies considering safety, manufacturability, and robustness.
  • Evaluate current product operation to improve reliability.
  • Define requirements for stakeholders such as manufacturing and analysis teams using conventional and model-based approaches.
  • Develop tools, standards, and best practices, and document lessons learned.
  • Contribute to product safety through XFMEA and risk assessments, ensuring quality compliance.
  • Perform analyses using calculations and automated workflows for dimensioning and validation of parts.
  • Manage work priorities within an agile framework and contribute to team planning.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s with relevant experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Strong knowledge in mechanical design and cross-disciplinary engineering concepts.
  • Logical, analytical, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Desirable: understanding of gas turbine components, experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD, and leadership experience.

Note: UK security clearance may be required, and UK nationality is necessary for some roles.
