Component Design Engineer

Job Type: Full time

Location: Bristol/Hybrid

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join our team at Rolls-Royce. Based in Bristol, you will be part of a large multi-disciplinary organization tasked with delivering novel gas turbine sub-systems and component solutions as part of a next-generation power and propulsion system, supporting our in-service products.

Responsibilities:

1. Design components and assemblies across various sub-systems, considering safety, manufacturing capabilities, and product robustness.
2. Evaluate current product operations in service to improve reliability.
3. Define requirements for stakeholders such as manufacturing, project customers, and analysis teams, using conventional and future state approaches like Model Based Definition.
4. Develop tools, methods, standards, and best practices for sub-systems and components, capturing lessons learned.
5. Contribute to product safety through XFMEA and risk processes, ensuring design solutions adhere to quality standards.
6. Perform analyses using calculations and automated workflows for dimensioning parts and components.
7. Manage work priorities within an agile framework and contribute to planning in a multi-disciplinary team.

Candidate Profile:

• Master's degree in Engineering or Bachelor's degree with relevant experience.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards registration.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design methodologies and cross-disciplinary engineering concepts.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Preferred but not essential: experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or other PLM tools; leading design activities; developing junior engineers.
