Job Description

Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) is seeking a Compliance Quality Engineer to join the Quality Function. The Quality Compliance Engineer ensures that all products and processes meet aerospace and defense industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role is vital in maintaining compliance with standards such as CAA Part 21J & G, CAA & EASA Part 145, AS9100, ISO 9001, among others. Responsibilities include conducting audits, managing corrective actions, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard product integrity, support customer satisfaction, and enhance operational efficiency. This role is key to upholding our commitment to quality, safety, and compliance in the aerospace and defense sectors.

The engineer will ensure adherence to industry and regulatory standards within our manufacturing processes, focusing on maintaining product and process integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will conduct audits, manage corrective actions, and advise on regulatory and customer requirements, especially regarding CAA Part 21J & G, CAA & EASA Part 145, AS9100, and ISO 9001 standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all processes, products, and services comply with aerospace and defense regulations and are effectively communicated down the supply chain.
  2. Audits: Conduct internal and supplier audits to assess compliance, identify non-conformances, risks, and improvement opportunities. Collaborate on corrective actions.
  3. Continuous Improvement: Lead quality improvement projects using root cause analysis and lean methodologies to improve reliability and reduce defects.
  4. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain quality documentation, including inspection records, audit reports, and compliance certifications. Report on key quality indicators and review processes for integrity and configuration control.
  5. Supplier Quality Management: Work with suppliers to meet quality requirements and improve the supply chain.
  6. Customer Interface: Engage with customers and regulatory agencies to address quality issues, compliance, and audits. Ensure regulatory requirements are properly communicated and implemented internally and in the supply chain.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of aerospace and defense standards such as CAA & EASA Part 145, CAA Part 21J & G, AS9100, ISO 9001.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense regulations (ITAR, DFARS, FAA, etc.) and military specifications.
  • Knowledge of auditing practices, risk assessment, and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Analytical skills for trend identification and data analysis.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing documents and conducting inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
  • Problem-solving skills using techniques like 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams.
  • Project management skills for handling multiple initiatives.
  • At least 5 years' experience in quality engineering or compliance in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience as an internal or lead auditor, with relevant certifications preferred.
  • Experience managing supplier quality and driving improvements.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Experience with ERP systems for quality tracking and corrective actions.
