Job summary

Your Role!

As our Compliance Delivery Officer (Asbestos), you will be the Council's lead asbestos specialist for our housing stock, playing a key role in ensuring the safety of residents, employees, contractors and members of the public.

Working within the Housing Service, you will support the Council's designated Responsible Person for domestic housing stock, leading on asbestos compliance, inspection programmes, contractor management and remedial works. You will maintain accurate asbestos records, oversee surveys and reinspections, monitor contractor performance and ensure that all asbestos-related activities comply with current legislation, regulations and best practice.

You will also provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues, residents and contractors, helping to promote a proactive culture of compliance and safety across the organisation. The role offers the opportunity to influence service delivery, contribute to policy and strategy development, support capital projects and work closely with regulators and external partners.

About You!

We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated asbestos professional with experience of managing compliance within a housing, property or asset management environment.

You will hold:

• BOHS P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos.
• BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings.
• A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Registration with an appropriate professional body (or the ability to demonstrate equivalent professional standing).

You will also have:

• Excellent knowledge of asbestos legislation, regulation and industry best practice.
• Experience of overseeing asbestos surveys, inspections, remedial works and contractor performance.
• The ability to analyse and interpret performance data and compliance information.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise residents, colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
• Experience of identifying risks, solving problems and implementing practical solutions.
• The ability to work independently and take ownership of key areas of responsibility.

Given the nature of the role, a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential to meet service delivery requirements.
