Job summary

Trinity House Group Ltd is seeking an Interim Compliance Officer for Education & Apprenticeships (Black Country). The role focuses on strengthening compliance processes for apprenticeship standards and training programmes, coordinating with assessors, and delivering timely post-audit actions ahead of the November internal audit.

Hybrid working is available; the assignment is 2-3 months with potential for permanent applications. Strong Excel/Data handling experience and DBS checks are preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong background in compliance and audit within education or apprenticeship sectors.
• GCSE level minimum; education sector background is a plus.
• Experience with online portals and paper-based records.
• Good Excel skills and data handling.
• Enhanced DBS checks or willingness to obtain.
• Detail-oriented, methodical and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen compliance processes and systems, especially around apprenticeship standards and training programmes.
• Collaborate with external assessors to ensure requirements are met and improvements are embedded.
• Implement post-audit action plans ahead of the internal audit in November.
• Carry out performance checks against funding rules and clear the compliance backlog.
• Maintain accurate data and documentation across online portal and paper records.
• Provide clear, well-organised documentation to evidence compliance for inspections and audits.
• Contribute to embedding stronger audit systems for the longer term.

Location: Black Country
Contract: Interim (permanent applications also welcomed)
Day Rate: 300 - 325 per day, inside IR35 (open to discussion)

About the Role

• Support the organisation in strengthening compliance processes and systems, particularly around apprenticeship standards and training programmes.
• Work closely with external assessors to ensure requirements are met and improvements are properly embedded.
• Implement the post audit action plan with precision and attention to detail, ahead of the internal audit in November.
• Carry out performance checks against funding rules, and help clear the existing compliance backlog.
• Maintain accurate data and documentation across both the online portal and paper based systems.
• Provide clear, well organised documentation to evidence compliance for future inspections and audits.
• Contribute to embedding stronger audit systems for the longer term (some systems already exist, so experience improving on an existing framework is helpful).

What We're Looking For

• Strong background in compliance and audit, ideally within education, training or apprenticeship standards; candidates with an accounting or auditing background will also be considered.
• Assessor qualification desirable but not essential.
• Comfortable working across both paper based and online portal systems.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confident handling data.
• Educated to GCSE level as a minimum; a broader education sector background is a plus.
• Detail orientated and methodical, able to work independently and see tasks through to completion.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain; checks will be made).
