To support the Head of Compliance in leading and managing the Chaucer Group compliance team.
To promote compliance by all Chaucer Group entities with applicable regulatory and statutory obligations.
To provide an effective compliance service to the business that deals promptly and efficiently with all compliance queries and issues.
To remain aware of regulatory developments and proactively advise the business on all relevant compliance matters.
Manage compliance by all relevant Chaucer Group entities with all applicable regulatory and statutory obligations.
Manage and develop team members supporting their career paths.
Develop and embed effective and proportionate regulatory systems and controls, and communicate compliance issues effectively across the business.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant Chaucer departments including the underwriting and claims functions and overseas offices.
Arrange and monitor the provision of an effective programme of compliance training.
Manage training programmes for Chaucer staff on their obligations towards Chaucer's customers and their duty to promote good customer outcomes.
Competent within the specific job role, aware of all technical requirements and able to apply these in a pragmatic manner in performance of all duties. Aware of internal policies and procedures and working practices consistent with the job role.
Flexible and quick to learn - able to undertake tasks and projects outside immediate role as required.
Able to understand the key business issues that affect the profitability and growth of the business and takes appropriate action to maximise success.
Capacity to perceive the impact and implications of decisions and activities on other parts of the organisation.
Ability to think strategically within area of responsibility, whilst taking into account the 'bigger picture' and consequences to the wider business context.
Ability to develop high standards of team spirit through effective management techniques.
Leads by example and communicates with all team members on areas of role responsibilities. Empowers more junior compliance staff to perform at the highest level through direction, delegation and effective management.
Ability to ensure work produced by more junior compliance staff is to the prescribed quality standards.
London insurance market compliance experience.
Experience of UK insurance regulatory regime.
Lloyd's Managing Agency experience
Management / supervisory experience
Familiarity with risk management issues
2.1 Degree or better
