Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated, competent, qualified, and skilled Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) with a successful track record to join our team. The role involves ensuring continued fire safety compliance by managing service providers and driving strategic oversight of fire safety across our estate, including corporate and school properties.

Role Overview:

The Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) will be the nominated Responsible Person for fire safety. They will oversee the Fire Risk Management service, shape and deliver fire compliance and asset management strategies, and ensure properties meet all legislative standards including the Regulatory Reform (Fire) Order 2005, Building Safety Act 2022, and Fire Safety Regulations 2022.

The role includes managing risk assessments, developing fire safety policies, ensuring legal compliance, collaborating with teams, and overseeing maintenance programs to maintain safety for all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and manage workload to meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs.
  • Lead fire safety compliance programs across all sites.
  • Review and maintain action logs for risk assessments and audits.
  • Develop and implement fire safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Liaise with fire authorities, insurers, and auditors.
  • Provide fire safety training and advice to staff.
  • Investigate fire incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on fire safety laws and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and facilities teams.
  • Chair fire-related meetings and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Provide leadership in fire compliance and risk management.
  • Build relationships for knowledge transfer and training on fire safety.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of fire safety legislation including the Fire Safety Order 2005, Building Safety Act 2022, and Fire Safety Regulations 2022.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fire safety management or compliance roles, preferably in local authority or educational settings.
  • Qualifications in Fire management and compliance such as NEBOSH Fire Safety, IFE certifications, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies and emergency services is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop risk management strategies.
