We are looking to recruit a Partner or Senior Associate for the role of Head of Risk and Compliance to join our established Compliance team.
The candidate
- Appropriate professional qualifications with excellent technical knowledge of AML regulation, data protection, complaints, and indemnity insurance;
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the existing Compliance team on delivering the firm’s Compliance agenda;
- Proactive and self-motivated, capable of managing projects independently and leading the Compliance team accordingly;
- Keeps abreast of new developments in law, practice, and industry, with the ability to translate this knowledge for others;
- Personable and flexible in approach to build relationships across the firm.
The role
- Act as the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer and Data Protection Officer;
- Manage the Firm’s professional indemnity insurance claims, including liaising with and reporting to the Firm’s insurers;
- Manage client complaints and allegations of professional negligence;
- Manage the Firm’s membership of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme, including dealing with the annual re-accreditation and ensuring firm-wide compliance with the scheme rules;
- Prepare routine reports to the Board on complaints, claims, Compliance, and data protection matters;
- Investigate and report on Compliance breaches, particularly data breaches;
- Monitor and follow up on actions arising from Compliance breaches;
- In conjunction with the Compliance Manager, manage and supervise the Compliance team and overall delivery of the firm’s Compliance and risk management functions;
- Monitor and pursue follow-up actions after incidents, breaches, concerns, reports, or audit findings, and escalate failures to act;
- Oversee the annual updating of Compliance and risk management policies, including the firm-wide risk assessment and AML policies, to ensure compliance with changing regulations and the ongoing review of Compliance files;
- Prepare reports and management information, including data collation for the Annual Review;
- Undertake relevant firm-wide training on data protection, anti-money laundering, and other Compliance topics, and assist with internal and external audits as necessary.
