Job Description
The post-holder will:
- Provide accurate, timely, and practical regulatory compliance advice to the Private Client business on lending, including regulated, unregulated, and consumer credit.
- Advise on the meaning and application of FCA rules and guidance for regulated lending, including secured lending (MCOB, legacy Article 3.1(b) agreements, CONC rules), as well as PRA BTL lending, considering other sources like Consumer Duty, CCA legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
- Offer guidance on rules and guidance applicable to unregulated lending, especially where they intersect with regulated aspects or general conduct expectations.
- Identify and manage potential regulatory risks, including breaches, ensuring issues are escalated appropriately, with a focus on treating customers fairly, achieving good outcomes, and managing retail regulatory and conduct risks.
Core Skills and Knowledge
- Several years of compliance advisory experience, preferably with regulated lending background.
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, especially MCOB, CONC, Consumer Duty, and PRA BTL lending, with experience advising regulated firms.
- Solid understanding of retail lending products for consumers; experience with lending to private banking clients is a plus.
- Ability to apply technical regulatory knowledge to the commercial needs of the business.
- Ability to monitor regulatory and market changes and communicate them effectively.
