Job description

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Established for more than 30 years, Thurra is an independent engineering inspection specialist delivering a professional, trouble free, responsive and competitive service from highly qualified and experienced engineers.

We inspect all types of plant and equipment including lifts, lifting equipment, pressure systems, power presses, press brakes and local exhaust ventilation.

Our Engineer Surveyors are responsible for carrying out engineering inspections, meeting the statutory examination and contractual inspection obligations of our clients’ plant and equipment.

Typical examinations include equipment defined in LOLER 98, PSSR 2000, PUWER as well as its application to power presses and LEV equipment defined in COSHH.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Compliance Administrator supports operational delivery by ensuring inspection activity is completed within agreed service levels and in line with internal KPIs. This role plays a vital part in monitoring engineer workload, assisting with planning, and supporting the accuracy and timeliness of reporting activity. The postholder will also contribute to maintaining service standards during business growth and system transformation, ensuring that compliance and performance remain central to day-to-day operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor engineers’ assigned workloads and adherence to operational KPIs.
  • Assist the reports processing team with handling and processing completed reports when required.
  • Proactively follow up with engineers to ensure inspections are completed on time and in line with defined service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Support the Operations Director by producing operational KPI reports and identifying and surfacing trends, risks, or early warnings affecting operational KPIs.
  • Assist with workload and capacity planning, including the generation and issuing of job packs to engineers monthly.
  • Monitor first inspection requests for new business, ensuring inspections are completed within targeted SLAs.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance risks, overdue work, or SLA breaches to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support compliance reporting and audit readiness.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams (e.g., Engineering, Client Services, Reports Processing) to ensure timely and coordinated operational activity.
  • Identify recurring issues, process inefficiencies, or data inconsistencies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the operations function.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Essential:

  • Experience in an operational support, compliance, or service coordination role.
  • Experience ofworking with performance data and creating basic reports.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Desirable:

  • Experience working in engineering, inspection, or regulatory environments.
  • Strong IT skills, including data analysis and a working knowledge of reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau, and experience creating or maintaining operational dashboards.
