Complex Needs Support Worker
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Full Time

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! GSL Education are seeking a Complex Needs Support Worker to work at a Client Secondary school in York, starting as soon as possible.

Complex Needs Support Worker Responsibilities:

1. Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex learning needs.
2. Collaborate with the students, family, and relevant parties to develop and implement a student-centred service plan to meet their social, emotional, and developmental needs.
3. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individualised education and care plans.
4. Assist in the personal care of students whenever required.
5. Work with class teachers to develop sensory, speech, language, and communication needs.
6. Manage behaviours within the classroom, being aware of triggers and using de-escalation techniques.
7. Use specialist equipment and techniques to support students' learning and development.

Complex Needs Support Worker Requirements:

1. A relevant qualification in education, health, or social care (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health & Social Care) is desirable.
2. Experience supporting children or young adults with complex needs, such as ASC, PMLD, SEMH, or physical disabilities.
3. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
4. Experience in using assistive technologies or communication tools is a plus.
5. Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
