Job summary

Inspire EHC Ltd is helping a specialist school in Bury St Edmunds find a Complex Needs Learning Support Specialist. You will work with children and young people with complex learning difficulties and additional needs, supporting their learning, life skills and wellbeing.

You'll provide one-to-one and small-group support, help learners engage in lessons, and collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals to enable progress and independence inside and outside the classroom.

Qualifications

• Passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs.
• Comfortable building positive and trusting relationships.
• Adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.
• A strong communicator who works well in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experienced within education, SEND, specialist schools, residential care, support work, youth work or healthcare settings.
• Knowledgeable about supporting learners with complex learning difficulties, communication needs, autism or additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Providing personalised support to pupils throughout the school day.
• Helping pupils engage in learning, develop life skills and reach their individual goals.
• Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small learning groups.
• Assisting children and young people with complex learning difficulties, communication needs and sensory differences.
• Encouraging engagement, participation and confidence in lessons.
• Supporting the development of communication, social interaction and emotional regulation skills.
• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Assisting with tailored learning activities and therapeutic interventions.
• Supporting independence inside and outside the classroom.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and multidisciplinary professionals.
• Providing personal care support where required.
• Helping pupils develop essential life skills and strategies for everyday success.
