Job summary

United Living in the United Kingdom is seeking a Complex Lead Design Manager to oversee design and technical delivery across multiple projects from our London office. You will lead and mentor the Technical Team, ensuring design compliance, timely approvals, risk management, and value-engineered solutions aligned with client requirements and business objectives.

The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and a proven track record in coordinating consultants and subcontractors,

Qualifications

• Proactive management style with the ability to lead Directors and Managers.
• Strong leadership and people management across a wide team.
• Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in coordinating design for residential buildings.
• Understanding of budgeting, programme delivery, and value engineering.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and building regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear leadership to the Technical Team across all design stages.
• Lead and mentor Design Managers, Coordinators, and Document Controllers.
• Monitor progress against programmes and ensure on-time delivery.
• Coordinate resource allocation and manage design budgets.
• Ensure designs comply with company standards and buildable proposals.
• Chair monthly Technical Team meetings and report to Head of Technical.
• Develop relationships with consultants, subcontractors, and clients.
• Oversee design information reviews for compliance and risk mitigation.
