Job summary

Keoghs is seeking a Catastrophic Injury Lawyer to join its market-leading Complex Injury Team in Newcastle. You will handle high-value claims, including brain and spinal injuries, from instruction through to resolution, while mentoring junior colleagues and collaborating with insurer clients.

This role offers hybrid working with a minimum of one day in the office and opportunities to influence outcomes on multi-million-pound cases.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor (4–8 years’ PQE) or qualified CILEX lawyer.
• Proven experience working on catastrophic or large loss injury claims.
• Strong understanding of litigation, case law, and court procedures.
• Ability to handle or support complex, high-value cases with confidence.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Calm under pressure, with strong prioritisation and organisational ability.
• Defendant experience is ideal, but strong claimant backgrounds will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• You’ll manage or support high-value catastrophic injury claims from instruction to resolution.
• Work on liability, quantum, and indemnity issues within complex litigation.
• Collaborate with Lead Lawyer on multi-million-pound cases and insurer clients.
• Mentor and develop junior team members where possible.
• Contribute to initiatives that enhance Keoghs’ market profile.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be at the heart of complex litigation—managing or supporting high-value catastrophic injury claims from instruction through to resolution.

Your Impact Will Include

• Working closely with a Lead Lawyer on multi-million-pound cases

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a technically strong, commercially aware lawyer who thrives in a high-performance environment.

Your Experience & Skills

• Qualified Solicitor (4–8 years’ PQE) or qualified CILEX lawyer
• Proven experience working on catastrophic or large loss injury claims
• Strong understanding of litigation, case law, and court procedures
• Ability to handle or support complex, high-value cases with confidence
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Calm under pressure, with strong prioritisation and organisational ability
• Defendant experience is ideal, but strong claimant backgrounds will also be considered

We anticipate this role will be appointed up to Senior Associate level; however, this will ultimately depend on the successful candidate’s experience.
