Job summary

Libertatem Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Complex Care Assistant to provide 1:1 support in a young girl's family home in Ilkley. The role requires experience with complex care needs, including tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, and enteral feeding.

You will work closely with the family and healthcare professionals to ensure safety, comfort, and meaningful engagement for the client. The role offers the chance to develop specialist clinical skills within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Previous complex care experience.
  • Ability to support a non-verbal young girl with a tracheostomy.
  • Comfortable working in a family home and with a dog.

Job description

We are recruiting for aFemale Complex Care Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a young girl with complex healthcare needs in her family home in Ilkley.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference while developing specialist clinical skills within a supportive and experienced care team.

About the Client

Our young female client has a rare genetic condition and requires dedicated support with all aspects of her daily care. She is non-verbal and uses hearing aids to support her communication and engagement with the world around her. Although unable to speak, she has a good understanding of people, routines, and events, and enjoys meaningful interactions with those who know her well.

She has a tracheostomy and requires vigilant support from experienced care professionals to ensure her safety, comfort, and wellbeing at all times.

Living at home with her mum and younger brother, she enjoys a loving family environment and benefits from personalised, person-centred care. She has a cheerful personality and enjoys watching Peppa Pig, spending time with those around her, and being read to, which she finds particularly relaxing and comforting. As her Care Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting her to enjoy the activities she loves while providing the specialist care she requires.

The Role

Deliver high-quality 1:1 care in the family home, supporting both clinical and emotional needs

Help the individual feel safe, included, and empowered at home

Work closely with the family and healthcare professionals

We are looking for candidates with previous complex care experience, including some or all of the following:

  • Hearing impairment awareness/support
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Nebulisation (aerosol therapy)
  • Gastrostomy care and management
  • Enteral feeding

To be successful in this role, you will be:

  • An experienced Complex Care Assistant, Healthcare Assistant (HCA), Support Worker, or Care Assistant
  • Compassionate, patient, and reliable
  • Comfortable supporting children with complex healthcare needs
  • Confident working independently within the community
  • Able to communicate effectively with families and healthcare professionals
  • Eager to develop specialist clinical skills
  • Comfortable working in a home with a dog

£16.02-£16.78 per hour depending on shift
