Job summary

SeeMeHired.com is seeking a dedicated Complex Care Support Worker to provide personalised care to a client with complex neurological, respiratory and physical needs in their home and local community.

The role requires experience with tracheostomy care, respiratory support and moving and handling, with a focus on dignity, safety and quality of life. A valid UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 months' experience in a Complex Care Support Worker role
  • Experience providing tracheostomy care and airway support
  • Experience with chest management and respiratory support
  • Experience with epilepsy and seizure management
  • Experience with gastrostomy/enteral feeding and medication administration
  • Experience supporting individuals who are nil by mouth
  • Experience supporting individuals with diabetes including insulin-dependent diabetes

  • Confidence using digital care planning systems and maintaining accurate care records

Responsibilities

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support within the individual's home and community
  • Providing tracheostomy care and airway support in accordance with the individual's care plan and your assessed competencies
  • Supporting with chest management and respiratory care
  • Monitoring respiratory presentation and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Supporting with epilepsy and seizure management, including following individual seizure protocols
  • Supporting with diabetes management in accordance with the care plan, training and assessed competencies
  • Providing gastrostomy/enteral feeding, hydration and medication support
  • Supporting an individual who is nil by mouth
  • Supporting with personal care and all aspects of daily living
  • Providing full moving and handling support as part of a 2:1 care team
  • Supporting safe wheelchair positioning, postural management and the individual's prescribed sleep system
  • Following moving and handling guidance due to fracture risk and reduced bone density
  • Recognising changes in the individual's presentation and escalating concerns appropriately
  • Following the individual's care plans, risk assessments and advanced care plan
  • Maintaining accurate and professional digital care records
  • Working closely with nurses, families, carers and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
  • Promoting the individual's dignity, comfort, choice and quality of life at all times

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this Complex Care Support Worker role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 12 months' experience in a Complex Care Support Worker role

  • Experience providing tracheostomy care and airway support

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent)

  • Current First Aid training

  • Experience supporting individuals with acquired or hypoxic brain injuries

  • Experience supporting individuals with complex neurological conditions

  • Experience supporting individuals with severe spastic quadriplegia and dystonia

  • Experience supporting individuals with visual impairment

  • Experience supporting non-verbal individuals with complex communication needs

About the role

About the Individual You Will Support

You will be supporting an individual with significant neurological, respiratory and physical needs who requires a high level of consistent and attentive care.

The individual has a hypoxic brain injury, epileptic encephalopathy, severe spastic quadriplegia and dystonia. They have complex respiratory needs requiring a tracheostomy and ongoing chest management, alongside insulin-dependent diabetes, epilepsy and gastrostomy support.

The individual is nil by mouth, non-verbal, visually impaired and uses a wheelchair. They require full moving and handling support on a 2:1 basis, including careful positioning and use of a prescribed sleep system.

You will work as part of an established care team, following individualised care plans and clinical guidance to provide safe, consistent and person-centred support.
