Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a Complex Needs Support Assistant in Sunderland to support pupils with severe learning difficulties and PMLD. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, personal care where needed, and helping students engage and communicate.

Flexible hours (full-time and part-time) with training and ongoing support provided. Starts ASAP and placements across Sunderland.

Qualifications

• Experience in care, residential support, healthcare or SEN education preferred.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient with clear communication.
• Willingness to provide personal care where required.

Complex Needs Support Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Pay: £95-£110 per day

Start: ASAP

Veritas Education is looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Complex Needs Support Assistants to work within specialist education settings across Sunderland.

You’ll be supporting young people with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex medical or physical needs. One of the specialist academies we’re supporting in Sunderland works with young people aged 11-19 with severe learning difficulties and profound, multiple and complex medical needs.

What could the role involve?

• Supporting pupils throughout their school day
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Personal care and physical support where required
• Encouraging communication, engagement and independence
• Supporting pupils with sensory and learning activities
• Working closely with teachers and experienced support staff

Who are we looking for?

Previous school experience is not essential. We’d particularly like to hear from people with backgrounds in:

• Care or residential support
• Healthcare
• Complex needs/PMLD support
• Children's support work
• Supported living
• SEN education

You’ll need to be patient, compassionate, resilient and comfortable providing personal care where required.
