Job summary

HFH Healthcare is seeking empathetic Complex Care Assistants to support a sociable young adult living independently in his Islington home. You will provide personalised one-to-one care, companionship, and assist with meals, community activities and daily routines.

The role involves moving and handling, tracheostomy care, BiPAP support and collaboration with a wider care team to enable an active, independent life.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or complex care required.
• Good moving and handling skills.
• Tracheostomy/BiPAP or respiratory care experience desirable.
• Cooking, social activities and companionship valued.
• Excellent listening skills and patient, attentive approach.
• Friendly, approachable personality and sense of humour.
• Honest, willing to learn and comfortable asking questions.
• Proactive carer who responds promptly to requests.
• Respect for independence, dignity and personal choice.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one care and companionship.
• Cook meals and share appreciation for good food.
• Support community outings and social activities.
• Assist with moving, transfers and wheelchair positioning.
• Respond promptly to requests for repositioning and comfort.
• Support pressure area care and manage muscle spasms.
• Provide tracheostomy care and respiratory support.
• Monitor BiPAP therapy as required.
• Communicate patiently using non-verbal methods.
• Work alongside the live-in carer and care team.

Complex Care Assistant – Islington N1

Location: Islington, London N1

Pay: £12.71–£16.00 per hour

Shifts: 12-hour day and night shifts

Hours: Full-time and part-time (minimum 24 hours per week)

More than anything, he values companionship, patience and being listened to.

He knows his care needs well and appreciates carers who respect his choices, respond promptly when he asks for assistance and are happy to learn how he prefers things done.

You don't need to know everything, but you do need to be willing to listen, ask questions and learn. He's always happy to explain his preferences rather than have someone make assumptions.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting pressure area care and managing muscle spasms.
• Providing tracheostomy care and respiratory support.
• Monitoring and assisting with BiPAP therapy as required.
• Communicating patiently using non-verbal methods.
• Working alongside the live-in carer and wider care team.

• Previous healthcare or complex care experience.
• Good moving and handling skills.
• Tracheostomy, BiPAP or respiratory care experience desirable.
• Someone who enjoys cooking, social activities and companionship.

• Someone honest, willing to learn and comfortable asking questions.
• A proactive carer who responds promptly to requests for assistance.
