What you'll do
In this role, you will provide full support with all aspects of daily living for a young person with complex health needs, including epilepsy, developmental delay and neurological conditions. This includes assisting with personal care, bathing, dressing and continence management, as well as supporting with a pureed diet and maintaining strict infection control procedures due to a high vulnerability to illness. You will accompany and support them during the school week, helping them engage and participate, and ensure a consistent daily routine, including a calming bath after school and a structured bedtime routine. A key part of the role is monitoring for seizure activity, recognising triggers such as sudden loud noises or changes in temperature, and responding appropriately, including administering prescribed rescue medication and following emergency procedures when required. You will work closely with their family to ensure safe and consistent care, support communication needs as they are non-verbal but have good understanding, and encourage participation in activities they enjoy. Above all, you will create a calm, safe and supportive environment, promote their independence, and act as a strong advocate to ensure their needs and preferences are always respected.
